2nd Army Helicopter Crash In Arunachal In October; 2 Bodies Recovered

Guwahati: Two bodies were recovered from the site where an Army helicopter crashed in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Siang district on Friday.

The weapon system integrated version of an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), reportedly carrying five people, crashed near Migging village.

This is the second copter crash in Arunachal this month. Just over a fortnight ago, a Cheetah helicopter crashed near Tawang, with the pilot losing his life while several others were injured.

Aerial rescue teams are searching the remote area. Another Armyman and pilots are believed to have been on board the chopper.

The helicopter, which took off from Likabali on Friday morning, was on a regular sortie.

As there are no motorable roads leading to the village, except a hanging bridge, three joint teams of Army and Air Force were carrying out rescue and search operations several hours after the accident with the help of an Mi-17 and 2 Dhruv helicopters.

Local villagers were also helping in rescue work.

“Received very disturbing news about Indian Army’s Advanced Light Helicopter crash in Upper Siang District in Arunachal Pradesh. My deepest prayers,” Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju wrote on Twitter.
