All three are from Punjab and have been identified as Hushanpreet Singh from Sangrur, Jaspal Singh (SBS Nagar) and Amritpal Singh (Hoshiarpur), reported NDTV.
They went missing on May 1, shortly after landing in Tehran.
An agent in Hoshiarpur had reportedly promised to send the three men to Australia, via the Dubai-Iran route. They were assured of an accommodation during their transit in Iran. But soon after they landed in Iran, they were kidnapped.
The families claimed to have received video call from the ‘kidnappers’ showing the victims tied up with ropes and a knife on their necks. The callers shared details of bank accounts in Pakistan and threatened to kill the men if a ransom of Rs 1 crore was not transferred to their account, the families said.
The families have appealed to the police and administration for help, even as the agent from Hoshiarpur is absconding.
