Jeypore: Police have arrested two persons in connection with the alleged gang rape of an aspiring model in a pine forest along the Jeypore–Koraput highway in Odisha.
According to Koraput SP Rohit Verma, the incident occurred on the afternoon of August 6 when the survivor accompanied by a male companion visited the pine forest for a photoshoot. The young woman, in her complaint at the Koraput Sadar police station, alleged that three masked individuals confronted the duo, threatened them at knifepoint and extorted Rs 8,300 through cash and online digital before sexually assaulting her.
Acting on the complaint, police initiated an investigation and apprehended two of the accused. A search operation is currently underway to track down and arrest the third suspect, who remains at large.
