Bhubaneswar: Commissioner of Police for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Suresh Dev Datta Singh on Tuesday reviewed the multi-layered security arrangement put in place ahead of the one-day special session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, scheduled to be held on Thursday, April 30.
According to sources, 70 platoons of police personnel will be deployed across the Assembly complex and surrounding areas to ensure smooth conduct of the session and to maintain law and order. The entire Assembly premises will be secured under a three-tier security cordon. In addition to regular police forces, specialised units including the Special Tactical Unit (STU), dog squad, bomb squad, and the Fire Services department have been pressed into service.
In addition, prohibitory orders are likely to be imposed at the Lower PMG Square to restrict the movement of people and vehicles.
The special sitting, summoned under Article 174(1) of the Constitution, will focus exclusively on the role and contribution of women in the country’s democratic framework, while highlighting BJP’s commitment to the women’s quota in Lok Sabha and state Assemblies. All Members of the Legislative Assembly requested to be present.
