New Delhi: Narendra Modi’s acceptance as a popular global leader was illustrated again during his ongoing five-nation visit.
A day after he was conferred Sweden’s Royal Order of Polar Star, Commander Grand Cross, the Indian Prime Minister on Monday received Norway’s highest honour, the Grand Cross, from King Harald V in Oslo.
It was Modi’s 32nd global honour.
The Grand Cross, which is the highest grade of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, is awarded in recognition for exceptional service in advancing Norway’s interests and international relations.
King Harald V presented the prestigious Grand Cross to Modi in Oslo, marking the 32nd international honour received by the Indian Prime Minister during his tenure.
“Honoured to receive the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit. This honour is dedicated to the people of India and is a tribute to the enduring friendship between India and Norway. It reflects our shared commitment to global progress,” Modi posted on X along with a couple of pictures.

Modi arrived in Oslo on Monday for a two-day visit, marking the first official trip to Norway by an Indian Prime Minister after Indira Gandhi’s visit in June 1983.
On Sunday, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria presented Modi Sweden’s Royal Order of Polar Star Commander Grand Cross, which is the Scandinavian nation’s highest recognition for foreign dignitaries and heads of government.

“A short while ago, I was conferred with the ‘Royal Order of the Polar Star, Degree Commander Grand Cross.’ This is not just an honour for me, but for the 140 crore people of India. It’s equally a tribute to all our friends in Sweden who have enriched India-Sweden relations and given them a strong foundation. May the friendship between our nations continue to grow,” Modi posted on X alongside images from the presentation ceremony.
