Nayagarh: In a major success, police on Friday arrested four suspects involved in a daring robbery at the Indian Bank in Mandhatapur in Odisha’s Nayagarh district two days ago.
The accused have been identified as Sagar Moharana, Pramod Nayak, Kartika Barad (50) from Lathipada, and Purna Chandra Prusty (50) from Jamadeipurpatana.
The robbery took place on July 2 when six masked men, armed with pistols, stormed into the bank, terrorised staff and decamped with over Rs 27 lakhs. The police registered a case and launched a manhunt.
While apprehending the accused persons, the police seized a bag containing Rs 20,86,050, a country-made pistol with two bullets, and two bikes. Two others involved in the robbery are believed to be on the run and efforts are on to nab them.
The police have formed three teams under the supervision of SDPO Nayagarh to track down the remaining accused. The accused have been verified to be involved in several criminal cases across different parts of the state, police said.
