Bengaluru: Ever since a London Gatwick-bound flight crashlanded on a medical college hostel building just 32 seconds after taking off from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Airport on June 12, Air India has been affected by various problems.
After a series of scares, cancellations and security concerns, the latest headline involves a pilot of an Air India flight.
Shortly before taking charge of a Bengaluru-Delhi flight on Thursday, the pilot collapsed, necessitating immediate medical attention, reported PTI. The airline’s ground staff took the pilot to a hospital, and arranged for another pilot to fly the aircraft to its destination.
It all led to a delay in the flight’s departure.
Air India confirmed a medical emergency.
“There was a medical emergency involving one of our pilots in the early hours of July 4. As a result, the pilot was unable to operate the flight AI-2414 from Bengaluru to Delhi, that he was rostered for, and was taken to a local hospital immediately,” the airline said in a statement.
The pilot is stable but continues to be under the supervision at the hospital, Air India added.
