Jaipur: A gruesome double-floor murder scene in Jaipur’s Kardhani area has left investigators piecing together a disturbing sequence of events after a 40-year-old woman and her three daughters were found dead inside their home on Friday.
Police suspect the woman’s husband and the father of the three girls, identified as Rahul, carried out the killings by allegedly attacking the victims on the head with a brick. Rahul is currently absconding, and multiple police teams have been deployed to trace him.
One of the most significant clues recovered so far is a few strands of hair found clutched in the hand of Rahul’s wife, Geeta. Investigators suspect the hair could belong to Rahul, raising the possibility that the couple may have been involved in a physical struggle before the deaths. The hair samples have been sent for forensic examination.
Bodies found across two floors
Geeta’s body was discovered in a room on the upper floor of the house, while the bodies of her three daughters, aged between 17 and 23, were found in two rooms on the ground floor.
The youngest daughter, Gauri, was found lying on a bed. Nandini and Radhika were found in another room.
Investigators suspect one of the daughters, who was reportedly sleeping on a sofa, was attacked with a cement brick weighing around 10 kg. Police suspect the force of the blow caused her to fall, breaking the sofa, after which she was allegedly struck on the head again.
Investigators suspect Rahul changed out of his blood-stained clothes and took a bath after the alleged killings.
What happened next has added another chilling dimension to the case.
At around 7 am, Rahul reportedly collected milk from the milkman and prepared tea inside the house. He also served tea to his elderly father, Lakshmidas Jha, and drank tea himself—while the bodies of his wife and daughters were allegedly lying inside the house.
Lakshmidas was reportedly unaware of the killings at the time. Police said he has hearing difficulties and may not have heard screams or other sounds of a struggle. When he eventually realised what had happened, he was reportedly left in shock and unable to speak about the tragedy.
Stock Market Losses and Dispute Over Plot Sale Under Probe
The preliminary investigation has pointed police towards a possible financial dispute.
According to investigators, Rahul had suffered losses in the stock market. Police suspect he subsequently wanted to sell a plot, but Geeta opposed the move.
Investigators are examining whether a dispute over the proposed sale escalated into an argument and ultimately led to the killings.
Rahul and his family had been living in the house since 2021. His elder brother, Sanjay, lives with his family in Jhotwara.
Neighbours reportedly said Rahul kept largely to himself and had limited interaction with people in the colony. His three daughters, however, were described as cheerful and friendly
Gujrat Trip Under Scanner
Police have also learnt that Rahul travelled to Gujarat on September 6 and stayed there for around three days. Investigators are now trying to determine whom he met during the trip and the reason for his visit.
Jaipur Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal has formed more than a dozen teams under ACP Shiv Bhardwaj and SHO Sawai Singh to track down Rahul.
The teams are examining CCTV footage from the area surrounding the house and questioning people who may have information about Rahul’s movements and the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
For investigators, the strands of hair found in Geeta’s hand could prove crucial. The forensic examination will determine whether they belong to Rahul and may help establish whether a physical confrontation took place between the couple before the deaths.
With Rahul still on the run, investigators are now working to connect the forensic evidence, the suspected financial dispute, his movements—including his Gujarat trip—and the events inside the house into a complete timeline of the four deaths.
