4 More UK Returnees Undergo COVID-19 Test In Cuttack City

Cuttack: Four more persons of 34 returnees from UK to Odisha underwent test for COVID-19 in the city on Friday.

According to sources, they underwent RT-PCT test to detect the the new mutant of SARS-CoV-2. They have been put under quarantine in COVID hospitals.

They belong to Bibekananda Lane, Mahanadi Vihar, CDA and Jagatpur, according to Health & Family Welfare department.

The sources said they don’t have COVID-19 symptoms. But the genome of the coronavirus will be sequenced, if necessary.

One returnee to Bhubaneswar has tested positive for COVID-19 but the new strain has not been detected from the preliminary test.

On Thursday, the state government ordered the RTPCR test and genome sequencing of all 43 UK returnees.

They included 21 from Bhubaneswar, 5 from Cuttack, 3 each from Koraput and Berhampur, 2 each from Nayagarh and Nabarangpur and 1 each from Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Khurda, Puri (Sakhigopal), Balangir and Rajgangpur (Sundargarh).
