New Delhi: A second earthquake hit Afghanistan in four days.
The recent quake. measuring 5.8 on Richter scale, struck the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region on Saturday afternoon.
According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the quake occurred at 12.17 pm IST at a depth of 86 km beneath the surface. The epicentre was located in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border area, a region prone to seismic activity due to tectonic movements.

The quake triggered tremors in parts of northern India, including Kashmir and Delhi-NCR, prompting panic among residents.
Videos have been shared online showing fans swaying and people rushing out of buildings.
“I felt the tremor… I was in office when my chair shook,” ANI quoted a Srinagar resident as saying.

There were no immediate reports of any casualty or major damage from either side of the border.
Just three days ago, an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 hit Afghanistan, which led to tremors in Delhi-NCR.
That quake was at a depth of 121 km, with the epicentre being 164 km east of Baghlan, a city with a population of about 108,000.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) had first reported Wednesday’s quake to be of 6.4 magnitude, but later revised it to 5.6.
