Bhadrak: Around 10 persons were injured, some of them critically, as a fire broke out at a firecracker godown near Haladidiha Chhak on Chandbali Road in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Tuesday.
As per preliminary information, a blast triggered by the fire left caused critical injuries to five persons, who were immediately rushed to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. The seriously injured included four women and a minor.
Locals said a loud explosion took placed while firecrackers were being manufactured at the depot, causing extensive damage to the structure. The depot was virtually destroyed in the blast.
On being informed, Fire Service personnel rushed to the scene to control the blaze. Locals helped transport the injured to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the minor who had sustained severe burns has been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.
An investigation is in progress to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
