Balasore: Five police personnel have been suspended in Odisha’s Balasore district on charges of dereliction of duty and indiscipline.
As per official sources, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Balasore has placed one havildar and four constables following internal reports indicating negligence in the discharge of their official responsibilities.
The suspended police personnel were reportedly assigned duty at the official residence of the Balasore District Collector. They were entrusted with the task of maintaining law and order, ensuring the security of the premises, and supporting administrative functions.
However, a departmental review showed that the five had failed to uphold the standards expected of them, displaying a lack of seriousness and diligence in their assigned roles.
Sources said that the suspended police personnel had neglected their assigned duties by attending a birthday celebration of their colleague some three days back. It is also alleged that they were also indulged in some illegal activities.
Taking cognisance of these lapses, the SP initiated immediate disciplinary action and ordered their suspension.
The disciplinary action was taken following repeated complaints and surveillance inputs pointing to unprofessional conduct and inattentiveness on the part of the five police personnel while on duty.
