Notably, 67 per cent of these deaths have been added to the total count during the second wave of the pandemic with more than 30 per cent in the last one month

The fatalities had swelled to 1,272 in June from 660 in May. The state has been reporting over 60 since July 9 with the highest of 69 on July 21.

The daily toll is unlikely to drop anytime soon with over 300 deaths yet to be audited.

On June 29, Director of Medical Education and Training CBK Mohanty had informed the audit of the remaining COVID deaths will be complete within the next 10-15 days.
