Cuttack: A total of 78.76 per cent students cleared the annual Matric examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE). School and Mass Education minister Samir Ranjan Dash announced the results in a video released on Wednesday.
Briefing mediapersons, he said 4,21,256 of 5,34,843 students, who appeared in the examinations, have passed. The overall pass result is 78.76 per cent which is 6.41 per cent more than the last year (72.35 per cent).
The girls have outshone the boys in the examination this year. Of 2,62,738 girl students, 2,15,367 have passed and the pass percentage is 81.98. On the other hand, 1,92,501 of 2,47,451 boys have passed and the pass percentage is 77.80.
In terms of grades, 1279 students have secured A1 grade, 8458 (A2), 18188 (B1), 32328 (B2), 49,153 (C), 89556 (D) and 2,23,195 (E).
The minister further said that this year 678 schools have secured 100 per cent pass results compared to 289 schools last year. On the other hand, 31 schools have zero results as compared to 82 schools last year, he added.
With regard to district-wise pass results, Bargarh topped the chart with 89.37 per cent followed by Khurda (87.28 per cent) and Puri (86.82 per cent) while Nuapada is at the bottom with a pass percentage of 60.18.
Apart from the Matric results, the pass percentage in the Odisha State Open School (OSOS) examination this year is 40.18. Of 9126 students, 3653 have cleared the examination.
However, there is a record 97.18 pass percentage in the Madhyama (Sanskrit) examination this year as compared to 84.62 last year. Out of 4255 students, 4135 have passed, he added.
