Sundargarh: Eight workers from West Bengal were reportedly stripped, thrashed and made to walk with tied hands by a group of angry locals after one of them was accused of misbehaving with a woman in Sundargarh district of Odisha.
The incident reportedly took place at Mission Road within the jurisdiction of Sundargarh town police station.
As per information, there was outrage in the area after a woman accused one of the workers of barging into her house and misbehaving with her.
Angry over the issue, members of her community and locals caught hold of the accused and seven other workers in the area and paraded them in public naked after tying their hands with rope. Sources said the locals also thrashed the eight workers.
After getting information about the incident, a police team reached the spot and tried to disperse the crowd. It was also alleged that the locals even assaulted the police personnel.
A journalist trying to cover the incident was threatened by the people beating up the workers.
