94 New COVID-19 Positive Cases In ‘Barricaded’ Berhampur City In A Day; Ganjam’s Tally 4867

Berhampur: Ganjam district on Thursday reported 246 new COVID-19 positive cases, including a massive surge of 94 cases in Berhampur city alone.

On July 13, the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) had earlier sealed its borders to check the rising coronavirus cases till further orders.

Of the total positive cases detected in the district in the last 24 hours, 37 are Corona Warriors while 206 are local contacts and three have travel history.

Among the Corona Warriors, 10 are from Aska, 17 from Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) area, five from Buguda, three from KS Nagar and one each from Polosora and Rangeilunda.

The local contact cases include 91 from BeMC, 31 from Aska, 20 from Kukudahandi, 17 from Polosora, and 12 from Kabisuryanagar.

The three returnees have come from Surat and Chennai.

With today’s figure, the total COVID-19 positive cases in the district have gone up to 4867. While 2971 affected persons have recovered, 46 have succumbed to the disease and 1850 are active cases, according to the Health and Family Welfare department.
