Museums Play Pivotal Role In Development Of Society: Guv
Bhubaneswar: Museums play a pivotal role in development of the
society. Efforts should be made to raise awareness among the younger
generation about the rich collections of the museums, said Governor Dr
SC Jamir while inaugurating the 60th foundation day of Odisha State
Museum on Saturday.
“Preservation and conservation is the essential activity of the
museum. These are essential to convey and develop awareness of culture
and cultural properties for future generations. It is therefore very
important to express gratitude to our predecessors, who carefully
protected and handed on cultural properties up to the present day. To
show the gratitude through actions, we must continue to pass on these
irreplaceable cultural properties to future generations. To this end,
it is important to maintain adequate storage environments, carry out
emergency restorations when required and to perform full restorations
in order that cultural properties survive far into the future”, the
Governor said.
The state government has taken various steps to further increase the
function and facilities in the museum. On the foundation day it is
important for Odisha State Museum to revisit its objectives and roles
in the society, Dr Jamir added.
On the occasion, books namely Odisha State Museum Glimpse, Catalog on
Copper Plate Inscriptions Preserved in Odisha State Museum,
Exploration of Prachi alley and Decorative Art of Parasurameswar
