Bhubaneswar: In a bid to ensure smooth celebration of 31st night, fire officials conducted simultaneous raids at various hotels in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri on Saturday.
Separate teams of the fire department inspected six hotels in Bhubaneswar, four in Cuttack and several other hotels in Puri to check fire prevention systems installed by them.
“During inspection, the raiding teams advised the authorities of the concerned hotels to strictly and sincerely adhere to the safety norms so that any kind of fire mishap can be avoided in such establishments”, a senior fire official informed.
Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police has also heightened security in the twin cities to prevent any disturbances during the celebration.
Apart from surprise checking of vehicles on 31st night, adequate police personnel equipped with alcohol breathe testers will be deployed near major star hotels and other places where a large gathering is expected, police sources said.
