Cuttack: The Congress on Sunday urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to take stern action against the Kendrapara MP, Anubhav Mohanty, for filing false affidavit on his educational qualification during the Rajya Sabha polls in 2014.
Congress leader Nishikanta Mishra said the information obtained through RTI revealed that the BJD MP had stated in his affidavit that he was a graduate from the Soviet University of Technology in Meerut in 2014. On the other hand, the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry had informed the Supreme Court that it has de-recognised the institute concerned in 2010.
Besides, the RTI information obtained from Utkal University said that Anubhav graduated from Kandarpur College in Cuttack in 2003.
Stating that the Utkal University has not provided migration certificate to Anubhav, the Congress leader claimed that no university will allow admission to any student without a migration certificate.
Demanding action against Anubhav for furnishing fake information about his educational qualification, Mishra said that let the Chief Minister, who talks big on transparency, justify his stand by initiating stern action against the party MP.
Terming the allegation as utterly baseless and false, the Kendrapara MP said that the Congress is trying to malign him. “This is nothing but the frustration of the Congress which was miserably defeated in the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Kendrapara,” he pointed out.
