Dead Chickens Along NH Trigger Flu Scare In Odisha’s Balasore
Balasore: Hundreds of dead chickens were found dumped along the national highway at Soro in Odisha’s Balasore district, triggering fear of a bird flu outbreak.
Locals have reportedly stopped buying broilers following the incident.
Meanwhile, the veterinary department is trying ascertain the cause of the deaths. “We will collect the sample from the spot and send them to laboratory for testing,” said veterinarian Buddhiram Roul.
Last month, bird flu was confirmed at a poultry farm of Odisha University of Agriculture Technology (OUAT) and the state government had culled thousands of chicken within one km radius of OUAT campus.
