New Delhi: The of Ministry of Civil Aviation’s (MoCA) website crashed on Wednesday afternoon due to unprecedented traffic following the government of India’s announcement that Air India will operate 64 flights between May 7 and May 13 to bring home 15,000 Indians who are stranded in 12 countries.

“The MoCA website is down due to unprecedented traffic. Team NIC (National Informatics Centre) is working on it. Details regarding evacuation flights will be put up on the Air India website soon. Kindly check there directly. Our apologies for the inconvenience caused,” the ministry tweeted on Wednesday.

All commercial passenger flights, within India and overseas, have been suspended since March 24, as a result of which thousands of Indians are stranded abroad. The only activity during this lockdown period involves cargo flights and specially approved flights, mainly to transport essential goods and medicines across the country.

The 64 repatriation flights will be conducted by Air India and its subsidiary Air India Express to fly back Indians from the UAE, UK, USA, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.
