36-Hour Shutdown Clamped In Odisha Village As Migrant Arrives on Bike

Keonjhar: Sarpanch Parvati Dehuri of Erandi gram panchayat in Keonjhar district on Tuesday imposed 36-hour shutdown in Erandi village after a migrant worker arrived on a motorcycle.

According to sources, the 34-year-old migrant worker came from Maharashtra to the village on the bike without informing the authorities on Sunday night. He slept on the bench of a roadside food stall in the market and went to his house late in the night.

The migrant worker also reportedly washed his clothes in the village pond. On Monday morning, he interacted with several people.

On being informed, the local administration sent the man to a quarantine center in Erandi and took steps to sanitise the locality. Contact tracing of the man and other guidelines related to COVID-19  are being followed.

Keonjhar district has 30 coronavirus positive cases with four new ones reported on Tuesday. While 8 patients have recovered, 22 are active cases in the district.
