Koraput: Suspected Maoists allegedly set afire three JCB machines at Darliput village under Lampaput block in Koraput district late on Monday.
On being informed about the incident, police rushed to the spot and recovered some Maoists’ posters, opposing illegal lifting of sand from quarry on Darliput river. Through the posters, the rebels also threatened sand mafias with dire consequences if they failed to stop the illegal activities.
Meanwhile, a woman Maoist surrendered before police in Deogarh district on Tuesday morning. She was identified as Sabitri Murmu, a native of Krushnapur village in Keonjhar district. She had been with the Kalinganagar Maoist Division since 2008 and decided to leave the organisation after allegedly being torture by fellow comrades.
