Odisha COVID-19 Toll Rises To 177 With 8 More Deaths, Ganjam’s Fatality Nears 100

Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha touched 177 on Friday with eight more patients succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours.

Ganjam reported four more deaths followed by Khurda (1), Sundargarh (1), Nayagarh (1) and Gajapati (1).

The Health Department identified them as:

  1. An 81-year-old male of Ganjam district who was also suffering from diabetes.
  2. A 79-year-old male of Khurda district who was also suffering from hypertension and end-stage renal disease with uremic encephalopathy.
  3. A 49-year-old male of Ganjam district.
  4. An 82-year-old female of Nayagarh district who was also suffering from diabetes, hypertension and cerebrovascular accident (Stroke).
  5. A 58-year-old female of Gajapati district.
  6. A 52-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from diabetes.
  7. A 45-year-old male of Ganjam district.
  8. A 73-year-old male of Ganjam district who was also suffering from parkinsonism, coronary artery disease, diabetes and hypertension.

With the eight new deaths, the virus has so far claimed 94 lives in Ganjam, 21 in Khurda, 11 in Cuttack, 10 in Gajapati, eight in Sundargarh, seven in Rayagada, three each in Puri, Nayagarh and Balasore, two each in Kandhamal, Kendrapada, Malkangiri, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur and Angul and one each in Bargarh, Jajpur, Jhasuguda and Sambalpur.
