Congress Meet: Ghulam Nabi Azad, Kapil Sibal React Sharply To Rahul Gandhi’s Remark Of ‘Collusion With BJP’

New Delhi: The crucial Congress Working Committee (CWC) is currently on in national capital.

NDTV reported that Sonia Gandhi has asked to be relieved as Congress president. The party should start looking for a replacement she said.

Her decision was read out at the start of the meeting. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was the first to react and asked her to continue soon after Congress leader KC Venugopal read out Sonia Gandhi’s reaction, the report added.

As Rahul Gandhi started addressing the Congress meeting, AK Antony asked him to take over as chief, NDTV reported. A furious Rahul Gandhi reportedly questioned the timing of the letter written by over 20 top party leaders targeting the Gandhi leadership. He reportedly also accused the signatories of the letter of colluding with the ruling BJP.

Sonia Gandhi decided to quit as party president after 26 top Congress leaders, including MPs and former Union Ministers, demanded a “full-time, visible leadership” in a letter written on August 7.

Meanwhile, according to reports that have just come in, Ghulam Nabi Azad, a signatory of the letter has reacted sharply to Rahul Gandhi’s remark of colliding with BJP and has offered to resign if such a link is found.
