Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Thursday detained two minor boys for allegedly brutally killing their mother in an apartment at Sundarpada area under Airfield police limits here.
Police told the media that the two boys aged 15 and 12 years were staying with their mother Binodini Mishra at Orchid Apartment in Old Town area. During interrogation, the duo said that their mother used to beat them up every day under the influence of liquor.
The incident took place on Wednesday night when the woman in an inebriated state abused her two sons. Fed up with the daily wrangle, they attacked her with an iron rod and killed her. They then left the house with their pet dog. On their way, they told a man living in the apartment that someone had attacked their mother.
The man then informed the security guard and other members of the apartment, who rushed to the room and found the woman lying in a pool of blood.
Later, they informed the Airfield Police, which reached the spot and detained the two minor boys late in the night.
