No Let-Up In Heatwave In Odisha Till Apr 27: IMD
Bhubaneswar: With heatwave intensifying across Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday said there will be no change in the weather conditions till April 27.
“Temperature at some places is likely to touch 45 degree Celsius,” said an IMD release.
The release further said though a cyclonic circulation has formed over the Arabian sea which also will have its impact on the Bay of Bengal resulting in rain in some parts of western Odisha, there will be no perceptible change in the weather conditions.
As per the release, mercury hovered around 40 degree Celsius at 12 places in the state.
While Balangir was the hottest place at 43.4 degree Celsius, places recording 40 degree and above were Angul (41.1), Jharsuguda (43.2), Sambalpur (42.2), Hirakud (42.1), Talcher (41.6), Bhawanipatna (41.5), Titlagarh (42), Phulbani (40) and Malkangiri (40.2), Sonepur (42.6) and Dhenkanal (40.1).
Besides, seven places recorded temperature around 35 degree Celsius and above. They were Chandbali (38.8), Balasore (36.6), Bhubaneswar (39.2), Cuttack (38.5), Keonjhar (39), Sundargarh (38.5) and Daringbadi (35.5).
Though temperature remained below 40 degree Celsius in the Odisha capital, intense humid conditions made the life miserable for city denizens.
