Minor Girl Murder: PIL Filed In Orissa HC For CBI Probe
Cuttack: In the wake of the alleged murder of a minor girl of Jadupur village in Nayagarh district, Bharatiya Bikash Parishad on Thursday filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Orissa High Court seeking a CBI probe into the case and a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the family of the deceased.
Advocate Gopal Prasad Jena filed the PIL on behalf of Parishad president Surendra Panigrahi.
Speaking to the media after filing the PIL, Jena said the dead girl’s father, Ashok Sahu, has alleged that police have not yet arrested Babuli Nayak, the prime accused and a close associate of Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo, and he is now roaming freely.
Considering this, the petitioner appealed the court to issue Rule Nisi (a court order that will come into force at a future date unless a particular condition is met) and direct the opposite parties — Principal Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, Home; Director General of Police and Superintendent of Police, Nayagarh as to why there should not be an appropriate direction to the CBI to take up the investigation and book the accused.
Apart from this, the petitioner appealed to the court to direct the state government to pay a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the girl’s family.
