‘Pushyabhisek’ Rituals Underway At Puri Jagannath Temple
--Devotees To Witness 'Raja Rajeswar Vesha' Today
Puri: Special rituals are underway at the Jagannath temple in Puri on the occasion of ‘Pousha Sukla Pakhsha Purnima Tithi’ on Thursday.
After the ritual of morning ‘Dhupa’, the sevayats are performing ‘Pushyavisheka’ rituals of the sibling deities with perfumed water from 108 pots.
After ‘Pushyavisheka’, the devotees will get darshan of the deities in ‘Raja Rajeswar Besha’ or ‘Suna Besha’ (adorned with gold jewellery) at the Ratna Sinhasana.
Notably, the sibling deities adorn this look five times in a year. The ‘Suna Besha’ during ‘Pousha Purnima’ is one among them.
The day before ‘Pousha Purnima’, ‘Adhibasa’ festival organised at Bhoga Mandap after the ‘Chandana Lagi’ ritual of deities.
Likewise, ‘Pushyabhisek’ rituals were also conducted at Alarnath in Brahmagiri. The deity at the Alarnath temple was bathed in 108 pitchers of water, and adorned in ‘Rajadhi Raj Vesha’. The water for the bath ritual was collected from ‘Pancha Tirtha’ earlier.
