Four Kolkata-Bound Flights Make Emergency Landing At Bhubaneswar Airport
Bhubaneswar: Four Kolkata-bound flights were forced to make emergency landing at Biju Patnaik International Airport due to bad weather at Kolkata on Sunday.
The pilots had to divert the four flights- 6E 172 Bangalore-Kolkata, 9W 907 New Delhi-Kolkata, 6E 708 Patna-Kolkata and AI 710 Mohanbari-Kolkata towards the nearest airport here owing to poor visibility on the runway following instructions from the Kolkata Air Traffic Controller (ATC).
Nearly 500 passengers were left stranded at the airport due to emergency landing.
However, the airport authorities assured them that they will fly back after the weather conditions improve at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Airport.
The Indigo flights from Bangalore and Patna left for Kolkata while Air India and Jet Airways aircraft took off from Mohanbari and New Delhi respectively, sources said.
