Odisha’s Ganjam Collector Warns Against Fake News On COVID-19 Facilities

Berhampur: Ganjam district collector Vijay Amrit Kulange has warned the people against spreading rumour about health care facilities, particularly regarding COVID-19 treatment, on social media.

After a video was posted in the social media by a lady and few others about scarcity of oxygen in MKCG Medical College and Hospital in the city, Kulange visited the hospital to ascertain the facts.

“I found no scarcity of oxygen in MKCG. There is adequate stock of oxygen in Ganjam and the people must not worry about this,” the collector said.

He further said the patient or the relatives should not put unnecessary pressure on the doctors to facilitate them with oxygen for treatment. “We are focusing on the treatment and the doctors are trying their best,” he added.

Stating that such fake videos and messages on social media are not only discouraging the doctors but also misleading the people, he warned of stern action if anybody would be found to resort to such activities.
