Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will disburse Covaxin to private hospitals after May 19.
The vaccines will be for both people in the 18-44 age group and those above 45 years, the BMC Commissioner, Prem Chandra Chaudhary, has said.
Chaudhury informed the media that the state government had allotted 1.5 lakh doses of Covaxin. But they will be exhausted as the slots were already booked till May 19 by vaccine seekers registering online. Since the slots have been booked till May 19, they cannot be cancelled, he added.
As the BMC is going to have another batch of vaccines, it will make arrangements to disburse them to private hospitals.
“As we had selected 31 private hospitals in Bhubaneswar for the first and second phases of vaccination, we will disburse the vaccines after receiving them. But it will be done after May 19,” he added.
