New Delhi: The Russian COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V will be available in India across hospitals of Apollo Group from second week of June at an estimated price of Rs 1,195 per dose.

“We will be charging Rs 995 for the vaccine and Rs 200 would be administration charges,” an Apollo Group official said on Friday.

Executive Vice-chairperson Shobana Kamineni stated that the group has already administered 1 million vaccine doses across 80 locations in India.

India approved Sputnik V for emergency use last month, while the Russian vaccine was rolled out in the country on May 14 as a pilot launch. India received two consignments of the vaccine from Russia early this month with which it started the process.

Come July, India will be producing Sputnik V vaccine in bulk. Six companies, including Dr Reddy’s Lab where Sputnik V was trialled, are due to produce the Russian vaccine.

“In June, we will do a million every week and double that in July. We are on track to complete 20 million jabs by September this year,” Kamineni said.

Earlier this week, Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Panacea Biotec, one of India’s leading pharmaceutical producers, launched the production of Sputnik V vaccine.

Sputnik V is the third COVID-19 vaccine to be used in India’s massive inoculation process which gor underway in January.

India is the 60th country where Sputnik V is being used.
