COVID Vaccine: Which States Have Achieved 100% First Dose & Where Does Odisha Stand
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday applauded the Himachal Pradesh government for being the first state to vaccinate 100 per cent of its eligible population.
“Himachal Pradesh has emerged as a champion. It became the first state to vaccinate 100 per cent population of its eligible population with the first dose and one-third of the population with the second dose… Himachal Pradesh has given me an opportunity to be proud. I have seen the state struggling for basic facilities but today we see them doing well. I want to congratulate and thank the government and teams here,” Modi said during a virtual interaction with healthcare workers.
Himachal apart, Sikkim has also achieved cent per cent first-dose vaccination, as well as union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
Odisha, which needs 6 crore doses to fully vaccinate its eligible population, has administered 2.39 crore doses (first and second doses combined) so far.
The first-dose coverage number in Odisha stands at 1,80,45,401, which is just over 60%. As for the second dose, Odisha has fully vaccinated 59,11,082 people, that is, around 19.7% of eligible population.
States and union territories with over 85% first-dose vaccine coverage are Tripura (89%), Ladakh (88%), Daman and Diu (88%), Lakshadweep (88%) and Mizoram (85%), according to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
