Retired Navy Officer From Odisha’s Nabarangpur Cracks OAS
Nabrangpur : Ajay Kumar Mandangi, a retired Naval officer, hailing from this district, has secured 131st rank in the Odisha Public Service Commission examination, 2019 results of which were announced last week.
Ajay, who lives in Nilakanthaguda village near Nabarangpur, has already served the country as an Indian Navy Officer for 15 years. Inspired by his well-wishers and friends, he decided to become an Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer. He seriously started preparing for OAS after his retirement in 2019.
“I cracked the competitive examination due to hard work, my parents’ blessings and friends’ support. I began to make notes from YouTube and Internet for my preparations,” said Ajay.
“Odisha Administrative Service jobs require dedication, patience and discipline. It’s challenging too. But, I think my 15 years of experience with the Navy as a disciplined soldier would help me serve the people in an organised way. I have learned professional approach in times of disaster and crisis management in the Navy and the core values of patriotism associated with my job for the past 15 years,” he added.
Ajay Kumar had completed his Plus-Two Science in Nabarangpur College and done his graduation and post-graduation on distance mode.
“We are happy about Ajay’s achievements. He has worked hard to achieve his goal. He could have retired like any other Naval officer and lived in the village with his pension. But, he would not waste his time. He keeps himself constantly busy. Now, we are proud of him,” said Ajay’s father Ishwar Chandra Mandangi.
