Bhubaneswar: World premiere of noted director Sabyasachi Mohapatra’s movie ‘Sala Budhar Badla’ was held at a film festival during World Expo 2020 in Dubai.
Director of the movie Sabyasachi Mohapatra and producer Kumar C Dev were present on the occasion.
The film, which recently won the National Award for Best Odia Feature Film, was premiered with a hall-packed global audience in the India Pavilion multipurpose auditorium. The movie received standing ovation after the screening.
After the premiere of the movie, Sabyasachi Mohapatra said, “My films have been screened at many film festivals across the globe but having screened at the first ever Odia Film festival outside India CINE-ODISHA is very special for me. I truly appreciate the efforts and thank Odisha Samaj UAE (OSUAE) and noted film producer, poromoter Jitendra Mishra’s initiative.”
Paying tribute to the protagonist of the film, Atal Bihari Panda who passed away four months ago, Mohapatra said, “He would’ve been the happiest man today knowing that his film has been screened at such a prestigious venue.”
OSUAE President Amiya Kumar Mishra said, “We are proud to have screening programme of Sala Budhar Badla and Sabyasachi Mohapatra with us in Dubai.”
Movie’s producer Kumar C Dev said, “Sala Budhar Badla is my first produced film. It is like a dream come true for me as the world premiere happening in Dubai at the Dubai Expo 2020. I thank the organisers for promoting Odia cinema globally”
Notably, the film festival and forum CINE-ODISHA was hosted by Odisha Samaj UAE (OSUAE)-the largest association of Non-Resident Odias across the Middle East and North Africa region in collaboration with film producer and promoter Jitendra Mishra and his organisation CINEMA4GOOD.
