Shah Rukh Tests Positive; Was Karan Johar’s 50th Birthday Bash A COVID Hotspot?
Mumbai: Karan Johar is in the news again, and not for the right reasons.
A few days after the filmmaker hosted a mega 50th birthday bash, dozens of guests have reportedly been infected with COVID-19.
Among those who have tested positive is Shah Rukh Khan. Though there has been no confirmation yet from the superstar, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee tweeted the news on Sunday evening.
“Just came to know that our Brand Ambassador Shahrukh Khan has been detected covid positive. Pray fastest recovery for the superstar. Get well Shahrukh! Spring back asap!” Mamata posted.

A Bollywood Hungama report, quoting sources, said that many of Johar’s close Bollywood friends contracted the coronavirus infection after the party but are not revealing they have tested COVID-positive.
Though Kartik Aaryan did not attend the party on May 25 at Mumbai’s Yash Raj Films Studio, the ‘Bhool Bhulaiya 2’ star got the virus while promoting his film with a co-actor who was at the bash, the report claimed.
Katrina Kaif and Aditya Aditya Roy Kapur were also learnt to have been infected, though Katrina has recovered.
India Today reported on Sunday that Johar is currently filming his popular show Koffee With Karan after having undergone mandatory COVID-19 tests.
“The reports of almost 50 guests present at the party testing positive is bizarre. The party was held almost 10 days back and it is only now that Aditya Roy Kapur has confirmed testing COVID positive,” a source told India Today, adding that many of the celebrities who attended that party have since travelled for work and other commitments to different destinations.
Interestingly, Johar had hosted a close dinner party at his home in December 2021, after which guests like Amrita Arora, Kareena Kapoor, Seema Khan and Maheep Kapoor tested COVID positive.
