Bhubaneswar: Two more persons were found positive for COVID-19 in Odisha, raising the total number of infections in the state to three, officials said on Thursday.
All the three cases have been reported from the Ganjam district.
Director of Public Health Rabindranath Mishra said the two new patients are under home isolation and their condition is stable.
The other patient, a woman, is undergoing treatment at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur, he said, adding that her health condition is also stable.
All three patients are in good health, with no serious symptoms or complications reported so far. The overall COVID-19 situation in in the state is not serious at present and there is no immediate cause for concern, he said.
Health authorities are monitoring the cases and keeping a close watch on the situation. Officials have maintained that the situation remains under control in the State.
Stating that COVID-19 has become a common influenza-like disease, Dr Mishra said and the virus has become weak and there is no need for the people to worry.
Notably, Health and Family Welfare Department Special Secretary Santosh Mishra had on Wednesday visited the Brahmapur hospital, where the woman is undergoing treatment, and took stock of the situation.
Meanwhile, an independent assessment carried out by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) found no alarming trend on the coronavirus infection.
Officials said routine surveillance and standard clinical vigilance will continue across Odisha.
Hospitals in Ganjam, one of the states close to Andhra Pradesh where a number of coronavirus cases were reported, have already been directed to ensure mandatory COVID-19 testing for patients with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) and conduct random testing of at least 5 per cent of patients with influenza-like illness (ILI).
