Two-Storeyed House Of Prayagraj Violence Accused Demolished

Prayagraj: The two-storeyed house of local leader Javed Mohammad was demolished here on Sunday.

Javed has been named as key conspirator in violent protests that erupted in the city to condemn now-expelled BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s remarks on Prophet Muhammad.

It took five hours for the demolition job. Most of the household items were first removed before workers could get down to the business of razing down the house, located at JK Ashiana Colony in Prayagraj’s old city area

A flag of Welfare Party of India (WPI) and a poster with the slogan ‘When Injustice Becomes Law Rebellion Becomes Duty’ were found at Javed’s residence. He is linked to WPI, India Today reported.

Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas, father of former JNU student leader Umar Khalid, is the chief of WPI.

A demolition notice had been put up at Javed’s house, directing him to vacate it by 11 am on June 12.

According to Prayagraj Development Authority’s (PDA) demolition notice, it was an “illegally constructed” house.

Javed has already been arrested in connection with the violence case.

“Mastermind Javed Mohd detained, there could be more masterminds… The anti-social elements used minor kids to hurl stones at the police and administration. A case registered under 29 crucial sections. Action will be taken under Gangster Act and the NSA,” Prayagraj Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Kumar told newspersons.

Prayagraj was among a number of cities in several states where there has been violence over the Nupur Sharma issue.
