[In Pic] Floodwaters Enter Villages In Odisha’s Khurda
Bhubaneswar: Several villages in Odisha’s Khurda district have been submerged by floodwaters of the Mahanadi river being discharged from Hirakud dam.
Khurda is one of 10 districts in the state that have been put on high alert as the flood situation in the Mahanadi basin worsens.
Floodwaters have already submerged several villages and crop fields under Obarsingh panchayat of Khurda district. Some of the submerged villages are Krushnapur, Obarsingh, Dihakhala, Hirumul and Raipur.
Water from Rajua and Daya rivers has also entered several villages in Narangarh panchayat of the district.
The impact of the flood is likely to be maximum in Puri, Kendrapada, Khurda and Jagatsinghpur districts due to heavy inflow of floodwaters in Mahanadi’s downstream.
