Fire Personnel Rescue Pregnant Woman From Waterlogged House In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Personnel of Fire Brigade on Tuesday rescued a pregnant woman from a waterlogged house in Odisha Capital and admitted her in hospital.
The 7-month pregnant woman, Anita Barik, was staying in her in-law’s house at Khetrapal under Sundarpada police limits in Bhubaneswar. The area was inundated as floodwater of Daya river entered the area following continuous rain for the last three days.
Since the house of Anit’s in-laws was located in a low-lying area, the floodwater from Daya inundated it. The house was waterlogged from all sides, snapping communication with outside.
As the water entered Anita’s house, all the family members of her in-laws had taken shelter on the roof. An Asha worker was coming to the house wading through waist-deep water to look after Anita.
As the Asha worker advised admission of Anita to prevent any untoward medical emergency, her in-laws informed the Fire Brigade in the morning.
A team of Fire personnel from Bhubaneswar went to the house in a power boat crossing nearly 2 km of waterlogged area. They first rescued Anita and women members and children of the family from the roof top of their house. The Fire personnel brought them to a safe place and admitted Anita to a local hospital.
Jatni MLA Suresh Routray was present at the place to ensure safe rescue of Anita and her admission to the hospital.
