This announcement confirmed the end of Raina’s IPL and India domestic career while making him eligible for competing in overseas T20 leagues. The 35-year-old had announced his decision to retire from international cricket on August 15, 2020, shortly after that of MS Dhoni.
He will now play in T20 leagues in South Africa, Sri Lanka and UAE and also the Road Safety World Series, starting from September 10.
Notably, he was released by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the 2022 season and has not played any first-class or list A cricket since 2018. His last IPL game was in October 2021.
