Festive Season: Commissionerate Police Issues Anti-Extortion Helpline For Citizens Of Odisha Capital
Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the festive season, the Twin-City Commissionerate Police on Monday issued a helpline number for the citizens of Bhubaneswar to curb extortion (Daadaabati) by criminals.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) asked the people of the twin cities to send a WhatsApp text on ‘7077798111’. “If anybody falls prey to ‘DAADAABATI’ by any antisocial or any information relating to drugs & street crime in Bhubaneswar city, Please share information on our Street Crime WhatsApp no.- 7077798111.@cpbbsrctc @odisha_police,” the DCP tweeted.
It also asked the citizens to share information about street crimes in the capital city.

As per the Commissionerate Police’s ongoing operation, ‘DADABATI KU NAA’ (No To Extortion), it has so far arrested 33 anti-socials since January 2022 for demanding illegal subscription (extortion). Senior officials said that 13 anti-socials have been arrested so far in the month of September in eight cases.
The Commissionerate Police has also collected a fine of over Rs 60 lakh so far from various offenders on the charges of consuming liquor at public places in Bhubaneswar.
