Heavy Rainfall In Odisha In Next 48 Hours: IMD
Bhubaneswar: With the cyclonic circulation over the north-east Bay of Bengal most likely to concentrate into a low-pressure area in the next 48 hours, the intensity of rainfall will gradually increase in Odisha in the next 24 hours, said a release by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.
Talking to the media here, director of Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, HR Biswas said there would be light to moderate rainfall in most parts of North Odisha and some parts of South Odisha on Tuesday.
“The rainfall activity in the state would be less for two days till September 4 after which it will gradually increase from Wednesday evening under the influence of the low-pressure. From Thursday, most parts of north and north-interior districts of the state will receive very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places in these districts,” Biswas added.
Meanwhile, an IMD release on Tuesday sounded thundershower and lightning alert for the 13 districts of Balasore, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh and Ganjam and advised the people to stay indoors till 1.30 am.
