3 Persons Including BJD ZP Member Arrested For Running Illegal Liquor Unit In Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Three persons including a Zilla Parishad (ZP) member of ruling BJD were arrested on Monday night for allegedly running a spurious liquor unit in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.

As per reports, a joint team of Excise officials of Kamakhyanagar, Parjang and Gandia conducted raid on the spurious liquor unit at Ektali village under Bhuban police limits on the order of the district collector Saroj Kumar Sethi on December 2 night.

During the raid, the team seized spurious foreign liquor bottles of different reputed brands, liquor packing machine, stickers, labels, caps, corks and empty bottles worth lakhs of rupees. The Excise team also arrested ZP member Subash Majhi, his relative Susant Dalei and Arabinda Das from the place for operating the illegal liquor manufacturing unit.

The raid was conducted in presence of Dhenkanal Deputy Superintendent Sitarani Patnaik.

Majhi was elected as ZP member from Bhuban block zone 3 in the last panchayat elections. Dalei is a constable in Jakhapura police station in Jajpur district. While Majhi and Dalei belong to Ektali, Arabinda is from Mrudanga village.
