Bhubaneswar: The just released film, ‘Ishq Puni Thare’ talks about love. Jointly produced under the banner of Tarang Cine Productions and Ratna Films, Arindam and Elina Samantaray have been paired for the second time to recreate the magic of love. Two films old Jyotee Das has directed the film while Prem Anand has scored the music.
Odisha Bytes spoke to Arindam. Excerpts from the interview.
So, you have made yet another story on love?
Love never dies, Legends are made of love stories and immortalised in Indian cinema. Love is always a hit formula in films, whether they are in Hindi or Odia.
Ishq figures again in your title. Is it a sequel?
Although the title of the film sounds similar to that of our 2015 film, ‘Ishq Tu Hi Tu,’ it is not a sequel. After finalising the story and script, we thought Elina suited the character best. We decided on the name only later on.
How would you best describe the film?
‘Ishq Puni Thare’ is a perfect blend of action, drama, romance and comedy. The film will make the audience, laugh, cry, emote and thrill. I enjoyed seeing the audience response in theatre. Though not a unique love story, it has its twists and turns, which will keep the audience glued to their seat till the climax.
How would you describe Elina’s growth in the industry?
I gave her the first break in the industry, after she won the reality show ‘Kie Heba Mo Heroine.’ She is really doing well and I am happy to see her grow. She has become more professional and a better artiste. But for me she is the same Elina who did her debut film with me.
You have worked with top heroines of the Odia film industry. What next?
In 2017, I did two films, ‘Romeo Juliet’ and ‘Shiva Not Out’ opposite the industry’s glamorous heroines Varsha and Archita. They were loved by the audience. I have worked with every heroine and I do not have to prove myself again. I will always try to give my best. The industry has so many promising actors and actresses. Though I do not predict the future, everyone here is trying to do some good work, which is a good sign.
There is a perception that people are not watching Odia films. What is your take on it?
Who says people are not watching Odia cinema in theatres? If that is true, why are production houses making such huge profits? There are so many people associated with this industry. I for one, love Odia movies. The perception that people don’t watch Odia movies has to change.
