Union Budget 2023: FM Proposes ‘Unity Malls’ In State Capitals; Check Details
New Delhi: Nirmala Sitharaman made an interesting proposal during her Union Budget 2023 speech on Wednesday.
The Finance Minister stated that every state will be encouraged to set up a ‘Unity Mall’ in the capital city or most popular tourist destination of that state.

The idea behind the proposal was promotion and sale of ‘One District, One product’, GI products and other handicrafts.

Local handicrafts and cultural specialties of every region will get a boost through these malls as most tourists look to buy special gifts, souvenirs and mementoes.
“The country offers an immense attraction for domestic as well as foreign tourists. There is a large potential to be tapped into tourism. The sector holds huge opportunities for jobs and entrepreneurship for youth in particular,” said Sitharaman.
The Central government has launched schemes like Swadesh Darshan and Dekho Apna Desh to boost tourism. Now Unity Malls will help in the promotion of handicrafts and GI products of each state, the FM said.
