Vigilance Apprehends 2 Officials For Taking Bribe In Odisha’s Bhadrak & Balasore
Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials on Monday apprehended 2 persons while taking bribe from two different places in Odisha.
In one case, a paddy farmer filed a complaint with Vigilance stating that Tapan Kumar Nayak, secretary of Chandigaon cooperative society in Bhadrak district was demanding a bribe of Rs 9,000 for the complainant’s eye scanning to authenticate him as the registered farmer under the Society for purchase of 240 quintal of paddy.
Acting on the complaint, the Vigilance set a trap and the complainant went to pay the money to the society secretary. The Vigilance sleuths nabbed Nayak while accepting it and recovered the entire bribe amount from him.
Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous house searches at two locations of Nayak from DA angle. Balasore Vigilance has registered a case under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 in this connection and further investigation is on.
In the second case, a contractor complained that Pradipta Kumar Rout, Junior Assistant-cum-Cashier in the office of Superintending Engineer, Irrigation Division, Balasore was demanding a bribe of Rs 5,000 for processing his file for release of security money against the works executed by him. As per the trap laid by the Vigilance, the complainant went to pay the bribe.
The Vigilance officials nabbed Rout while accepting the bribe and recovered the entire amount from his possession. Following the trap, simultaneous house searches are going on at two locations of Rout from DA angle.
Balasore Vigilance has registered a case under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 in this connection and further investigation is on.
