Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, who canceled Diwali celebrations at his residence due to the damage caused by Cyclone Arnab and subsequent floods, held a public grievance hearing in Odisha’s Kendujhar on Sunday to address the concerns of hundreds of residents.
The Circuit House served as the venue for a district-wide grievance redressal session, where citizens gathered to present their concerns directly to the Chief Minister. Listening patiently to each case, Chief Minister Majhi ordered departmental officials to take immediate action and resolve the complaints without delay.
He is on a four-day visit to his home district.
Earlier on Saturday, he laid the foundation stones for three lift irrigation projects valued at ₹120 crore. Situated across Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj districts, these projects will bring irrigation to 4,280 hectares of farmland.
Majhi had previously skipped Durga Puja celebrations and avoided visiting pandals in solidarity with farmers affected by severe October rainfall. The state’s southern districts have now been hit even harder by Cyclone Arnab, which triggered heavy rains and flooding, causing widespread damage to crops and property.
