IMD Observatory At Cuttack Gets WMO Certificate As Long-Term Observing Station
Bhubaneswar: The World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) has recognised three IMD observatories including Odisha’s Cuttack as long-term observing stations.
This was stated by Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a tweet on Thursday.
The President of WMO presented the certificates to Mohapatra, who is also permanent representative of India to WMO, at a function organised during WM Congress on May 24.
The three observatories have been recognised as observing stations for more than 100 years of hydrological observations. Two other IMD observatories are Dwarka and Veraval in Gujarat.
The IMD has congratulated the serving and retired colleagues at Dwarka, Veraval and Cuttack for the achievement.
